Recall is an AI link organizer. Your library is stored on your devices and can sync through your private iCloud database. Summaries, semantic search, and voice transcription run on your device.
Recall also sends diagnostic information to help us investigate problems and improve its features. These reports can include content from saved pages and Voice Recall requests, as explained below.
Your library
Recall stores the links you save, page titles and content, preview images, summaries, topics, insights, folders, favorites, reading status, and notes. It also creates a local search index to help you find related content.
Your library is stored on your device. When iCloud is available, Recall uses your private iCloud database to keep your library in sync across your Apple devices. You do not need a separate Recall account.
Saving a link causes Recall to retrieve the page and its images from the original website or its content providers. Those connections expose ordinary request information, such as your IP address, to the receiving services. Their privacy policies also apply when you open the original page.
Intelligence and Voice Recall
Recall uses Apple Intelligence on your device to generate summaries, topics, and insights and to help select relevant links. Semantic search also runs locally.
Voice Recall uses your microphone after you grant permission and start recording. Apple's speech technology turns your speech into text on your device. Recall uses that text to find a saved link. Recording stops when you stop or cancel Voice Recall.
Recall does not save voice recordings or upload the audio to its diagnostic service. The transcribed text and information used to find a matching link can be included in diagnostic reports.
Diagnostics and product improvement
Recall uses a diagnostic service to understand errors, measure performance, and evaluate the quality of its AI features. Reports are sent over an encrypted connection and can include app and operating-system versions, timestamps, processing times, errors, saved-page URLs and text, Voice Recall transcripts, and AI inputs and results.
Reports do not include your Apple account credentials. However, saved content and spoken requests may themselves contain personal information, so diagnostic reports should not be considered anonymous.
Diagnostic data is processed by the services we use to operate and improve Recall. Your saved library and diagnostic records are stored separately; deleting a link from your library does not automatically delete reports already sent.
Storage, deletion, and your choices
You choose which links to save and can delete them in Recall. Deleting a link removes its saved record and search index entry. With iCloud sync enabled, that change is synchronized to your other devices when they connect. Copies in device or iCloud backups are subject to Apple's backup and retention settings.
You can revoke microphone permission and manage iCloud access in your device's settings. Disabling the microphone prevents voice recording; it does not remove diagnostic reports already sent. Recall does not currently provide an in-app switch for diagnostic reporting.
Diagnostic records are retained for troubleshooting and evaluating improvements to Recall. Local reports waiting to be sent may remain on your device until delivery or removal by the app's storage limits. Support correspondence is retained to handle your request and any necessary follow-up.
You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, or to raise a concern about its use. We may need enough information to verify your request and locate the relevant records. Available rights depend on where you live; you may also contact your local data protection authority.

This website does not use analytics scripts, advertising cookies, or signup forms. Images and styles are served directly from the site.
The website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes connection and request information, including your IP address, approximate location derived from it, and browser or system information, to deliver and operate the website. See Vercel's privacy notice for details of its handling and retention of this information.
